Who Am I?

Just a dog crazy lady helping people have a better life with their dogs.

Who am I and why do I think I can help your dog?

Great question, I would love to tell you!

Most of my life has revolved around dogs. And when I got married, we began raising future Service Dogs. It gave me the opportunity to work with dogs while helping people.

I needed to train the dogs to listen and behave really well because they could go out in public with us. I wanted to learn more so I could do a better job at this important work. So, in 1994, I attended my first dog training seminar. And it opened a whole new world to me!

I started as a “positive” dog trainer, but there were some dogs that I couldn't help with purely positive methods . Dogs that wouldn’t take treats at all or dogs that liked doing naughty things more than taking treats. And dogs that learned lots of new things but never forgot all of the naughty things they knew before.

Dogs like my Keegan!

He made me realize that I had more to learn! I needed to learn how to help dogs like him STOP doing things. And they needed to stop right now because they were at risk of losing their home.

Or worse!

And along the way, I found just the right balance in training.

Training where new behaviors are taught with lots of clicks and treats and praise. And undesirable behaviors are stopped with as little correction as necessary.

Over the years, I have operated a boarding kennel and a pet sitting service; been a dog obedience class instructor; dog rescue volunteer and 4-H Dog project leader. All while training and titling my own dogs in various dog sports.

These experiences have given me a broad base of dog knowledge as the foundation of my training program.

My program helps families who love their dog more than anything, but behavior challenges are holding them back from doing all the things they want to with their dog.

If you have read this far (and haven't been scared off!), I would love to hear more about what is going on with your dog and talk about how you and your dog can have a better life together.
